The Get Out! series continues as we made our way over to Moonfalls this week. The hike is super short and painless, hardly a hike at all, but the pouring rain made is slightly more difficult for us. That’s ok, because we are always up for a challenge!
The road up there is a semi maintained forest road. Expect a bumpy ride. We did pass a few cars on the way, so I know they can make it up there! But I would definitely recommend a 4wd vehicle for this trek. It’s truly a beautiful drive though, well worth the bumps! The short hike takes you past a picnic table and right onto some rocks at the base of the falls. Be careful because the rocks are loose, and it’s very slippery! I took a tumble or two myself. You can see in the following photo that I got a little dirty after I fell. But this view was totally worth it! The falls are a two stage fall, and if you dare you can trek up to the rocky ledge that separates the top half of the falls from the second. As you can see, that is just what we did! As you can see, we bring our dog Bane with us anytime we can! We loves any opportunity to ride along, and he will take any possible excuse to get as wet as he possibly can! We soaked up one last view of the falls before we took the short 1/2 mile walk back to our car to head back home. Walking around in all that rain was definitely worth it, because on our way home we were rewarded with a spectacular sunset!Isn’t my husband’s magnificently red beard just the greatest thing you have ever seen?
What adventures have you guys gone on recently?
